Anatomy Of An Oyster

Book by Rita Puig-Serra Costa

36€
Before the pearl, there appears nacre. A foreign element penetrates the oyster, irritates it, causes it to successfully turn against the encroachment by building up a hard layer for protection. “Anatomy of an Oyster” (@WITTY_BOOKS), by Barcelona photographer @Ritapuigserra is a trip back to her childhood. She takes a walk back in time so as to understand and heal. The book unfurls and revisits a story of violence: the abuses Rita endured when she was a child. It’s an attempt to tell what must be told. To herself, to those still present, to those who are no more. The oyster doesn’t know how to deal with that tiny piece of muck that breaks in unannounced, so it focuses on repairing the damage done and builds a shelter to carry on. That’s the way it creates beauty out of dirt.
